Cambridgeshire waste PFI project

Donarbon has established itself as a leading waste management company in the Eastern Region by securing Cambridgeshire County Council’s £730 million, 28 year waste processing and recycling contract. This long-term contract was let as a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project.

The centrepiece of the contract is a £41 million state of the art Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant with attached education centre, plus expansion of the company’s in-vessel composting facility and new recycling infrastructure, to ensure that over 80% of Cambridgeshire’s waste is diverted from landfill.
